Women need choice.

If a woman can birth with confidence and know that she has been given choice throughout her pregnancy and birth, she can have a better birth experience. That’s why one Sydney doula set out to establish this website. Lucy Perry wanted to give Australian women lots of choice when it came to choosing the right doula for their family.

This site is completely independent and its services are entirely free. In it's first 12 days online, it became the largest online directory of doulas in Australia.

The doulas on this website are all certified or in training. However, findadoula.com.au is a referral or introduction service only. No responsibility will be accepted for any inaccuracies or misrepresentations found in these listings. Should you engage a doula listed here, you accept full responsibility for this choice. Our aim was to build Australia's most comprehensive online doula listing and we've done it already. Hello! This website has been a huge learning curve for a print designer from the 'burbs.

I couldn't have done it without the generous help of Katrina McKinnon from Motive Media. She was the first one to say “brilliant idea!” when others said “aren’t you too busy already?” Then she provided hours of technical advice and put me in touch with Dennis the programmer who made all the whistles and bells work behind the scenes. Dennis has had a learning curve of sorts as he has discovered the world of 28 day cycles and due date calculators!

This website would still be a vague idea in my head if I hadn’t been given unconditional support by my gorgeous husband Bruce. If blokes could be doulas, Bruce would be a fabulous one: supportive, non-judgemental, patient and never tiring of hearing about childbirth.

So when you find a doula through this website and you are so glad that you did, think warm fuzzy feelings about the people who made it happen: Lucy, Bruce, Katrina and Dennis :)
