About: Hi, I'm Kirsten. It was through the experience of having my first daughter that called me to becoming a Doula to help women achieve the most positive experience as possible as they become parents for the first or subsequent time.

Based in the Barossa, I service such areas as Gawler, Adelaide, Adelaide Hills and Clare and am always willing to negotiate further travel.

Being a doula is amazing; it is such an honour to be invited to support someone. Just as each woman is different, so is each birth. I am constantly learning and developing with each new experience and meeting fantastic people along the way. Watching women make the transition from being pregnant to new mum is such a beautiful moment.

I will be by your side, supporting you in whichever way you need. I am able to assist you physically and emotionally in a whole variety of ways throughout your pregnancy, labour and after your baby is born. How you would like me to support you is all up to you!

I firmly believe that there is no such thing as too much support when having a baby!

I highly recommend Kirsten to anyone seeking a doula. Kirsten fulfilled all my expectations – she was extremely professional, flexible, non-judgemental and supportive. She was able to adapt her services to a short timetable and listened actively to our needs. She promptly followed up on all our queries and communicated clearly.

During labour, Kirsten’s support allowed me to focus totally on giving birth. I knew that I could rely on Kirsten to provide anything that I needed, such as drinks, massage or privacy. I also knew that Kirsten was supporting my partner both physically and emotionally so that I didn’t have to worry. Kirsten was able to capture our first moments with our beautiful daughter in a series of intimate photos that I shall always treasure.

Services offered: I offer a variety of packages and custom options to suit your needs and budget. Our first visit is free of charge to you.

During your pregnancy we will meet for the number of agreed visits. These visits help us to get to know each other. We can discuss emotional and physical changes, positions to assist labour, bonding with baby, assist with the creation of your birth plan, work through fears, and attend caregiver visits together or simply catch up for a coffee and chat. It is up to you.

I am on-call two weeks prior to your due date up until your baby is born and will come to you as soon as you want me to be there for you. Of course, if your baby comes early, I will still be available to you. It is my job to ensure your comfort levels are met and you are never alone. If you have other support people, I will ensure that their needs are taken care of too. I will stay with you throughout your entire labour and will remain with you until after your baby is born and you are ready for some quiet family time

After the birth of your baby I will meet with you and your family to see how everyone is adjusting and to find out how I can best support you. Depending what you want, I can listen as you debrief about the birth, run errands, light housework, hold your baby while you have a shower or cook a wholesome meal.

Other skills and services: I take photos for you to capture those special first moments as a family. When I use my own camera, photos are printed off on premium quality paper, burnt to CD and presented to you when we next meet after the birth of your baby.

I have a great library of books & DVDs available to borrow which cover pregnancy, birth and parenting.
