I am passionate about pregnancy, birth and babies. I always have been. From as young as I can remember I have been in awe of the magical process it takes to bring a child into this world.
For a short while I toyed with the idea of becoming a midwife, however, the medical side never did appeal to me – I wanted the good stuff!. I wanted to be able to spend time with families, discussing their thoughts and anxieties. I wanted to be a part of the team at the birth. I wanted to be able to follow up with the families to see how they were going with the new addition.
It soon became apparent that the role of a midwife would fall a little short on my what my wants were for my future. So, I drifted away from the idea and found whatever job was available at the time. I plodded along that path for many years, until one day, my best friend become pregnant. I was in heaven! Finally I had someone I could talk with about all this fun pregnancy and baby stuff! We went shopping for baby things, we went to ultrasounds together, we just indulged in the experience - and I loved every minute of it. When she went into labour, I was one of the first people to arrive at the hospital to be with her and to support her. It was an awesome experience. Frightening, loving, painful and rewarding all at the same time. My heart was changed by it. Further to that, my life was changed by it. It was while I was taking a break out in the hall, that I met a lady who was also supporting someone in labour. She explained that she was a “professional support person” and this was her job. Wow! You mean, you can actually do that?!
My “lightbulb moment” had arrived!
Now, a few years later, my business 'Bear With Me' is up and running (www.bearwithme.com.au), and I am a certified doula!

Birth is one of the peak moments in life, and having a positive birth experience can impact a woman's relationship with herself, her baby, her partner and even her own mother and other women in general. As a doula I get to make a difference to people’s lives. I feel privileged to support couples at this wonderful time.

Becoming a doula was a natural progression as I have always loved all things involving pregnancy, birth and babies. I am overjoyed to now be able to help women on their journey to motherhood.
I have experience in supporting women who have high risk pregnancies (including pre-eclampsia and breech babies), as well as experience with natural and pain medication free births, inductions, c-section deliveries and VBAC's. I feel very passionate about empowering women as they birth their babies to have the best experience possible, and will work with you to provide information, support and guidance as you plan for and experience the unique miracle and joy of bringing your special baby into the world.
Babies enter the world in all manner and style, and I am happy to attend all types of birth, be they home births, hospital (public or private), water, VBAC, c-section, breech or any other kind. I believe doulas can provide a unique and valuable service to mums and families, and can greatly assist in enhancing the birthing experience and providing individualised support and care.

My name is Bree Downes and I am passionate about informing and supporting women to achieve their ultimate birth experience. Having experienced a traumatic emergency caesarean through the hospital system in 2006 with my first son, a passion and yearning sparked inside me to explore and bring awareness to how his birth unfolded the way it did, and to then plan for a VBAC home birth with my second son in 2009. I see that each birth carries it's own story which is perfect for you, your partner and your baby, and is often part of a bigger picture. In honouring this 'bigger picture' I can help you bring an awareness and power to your birth that will leave you complete and fulfilled regardless of the outcome.

I am 29 years old, married and the mother of two beautiful girls, Georgia, 3 and little Kara, 2. I have lived in Ballarat most of my life. I am passionate about empowering Ballarat women to be confident in their body and its ability to give birth.
I absolutely love what I do! Caring for women on their journey through pregnancy, birth and into early motherhood is such a fantastic experience!
My personal journey into motherhood has led me to my career as a Doula. During this time I discovered a passion for pregnancy, birth, babies and everything in between!
After assisting several family and friends during labour, I discovered that most hospital staff are so busy running between several patients, taking observation notes and performing procedures, but never really being able to give each mum to be the personal attention they needed. It was then that I realised I could make a difference.
Most women can tell you what their birth experience/s where like, even after many years. Giving birth creates such vivid memories, so I understand the importance of making it as comfortable as possible. As a doula, I actually have the opportunity to ensure that the environment is conducive to creating memories of a gentle, supported and empowered birth.

'To offer one-self as a faithful companion to another woman on life’s greatest journey, that into motherhood, is a conscious, considered & committed choice. It is a decision that illustrates deep respect for women, belief in the power, the beauty & the passion of birth, & recognition that the way we birth & nurture ... our children has profound effects on the whole of our lives & those of our families'. Vicki Chan
I am a mum of three and feel it is a must that every woman is educated so that they can make the right decisions about their birth experience. Giving birth is a natural event, and every woman can be involved in the decision-making process and can come away from the birth satisfied that they were involved and had a 'voice'.
Giving birth is a beautiful, wondrous, exciting and scary time- nothing compares or even comes close to it. Having a doula allows you to 'own' your birth and make the choices you feel are right for you.
I will support you throughout your pregnancy, labour and beyond. I will make sure that your wishes are complied with (as closely as possible) and that you are fully informed every step of the way. Statistically, births which have a doula present have a 65% lower chance of having interventions including epidurals and pain relief.
I have worked extensively with Dr Amber Moore and feel absolutely privileged to be a part of this miracle. I am very passionate about empowering women and helping them through this life-changing process.
I have been at many types of birth- vaginal (forceps, vacuum, epidural, without any drugs, VBAC, pre-eclampsia) and caesarian (planned and emergency).

Hello, my name is Claire, I believe that being pregnant and giving birth is an amazing achievement, and I know having support during this journey is also essential, being a mother of 3 adult children, I have had significant personal experiences that has helped make me the person I am today…My 3 births, all different and perfect in their own right, have helped me provide understanding no matter the choice made by the birthing couple, accepting and supporting their birthing journey.. My personal experiences have lead me through 2 home births, a still born, and last a hospital birth resulting in a caesarean delivery, these experiences have taught me to accept and support the decisions and choices made with out judgement and criticism. I have chosen to be a qualified Doula as I am passionate about supporting a woman through one of life’s most amazing experiences. I believe a baby created in a loving and safe environment has every right, and deserves to be delivered into that same environment. My goal is to inform parents to be able to make choices that they are satisfied with, enabling them to be empowered by their choices and experiences, ensuring that they are fully understood and supported all the way. I believe that the presence of a calm, dedicated, and understanding Doula can enhance a woman’s birth experience, providing a supported and nurtured environment where she feels safe to deliver her baby – being able to trust in herself, and in her ability to give birth in the best possible way is my intention and commitment

I am a mother of 4 children and my interest in pregnancy, childbirth, babies & mums began as I prepared to start my own family.
My belief is that if women are well informed, supported and encouraged that the outcome of their birth will leave them with a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction regardless of whether the birth is a natural birth or a medical one.
In my working life I have a background in nursing and have worked in a variety of care settings over the past 20 years including post-natal care. I am also currently studying the education requirements to eventually become a lactation consultant.
It is such a privilege and honour to be involved with women and their families at this time of their lives. Watching as they unfold the mystery of their pregnancy and new born is such an amazing journey to be a part of.

My passion for pregnancy and birth began when I was pregnant with my first daughter, Tiani, in 2005. I knew nothing about pregnancy, labour and birth and when I was two months pregnant I was present at a friends birth who was unprepared for the experience and had many complications and a lot of fear. This made me realise that I was going to need some help for my own pregnancy and labour. I began classes in hypnotherapy and studying everything I could get my hands on and this was the beginning of my journey to becoming a doula. Through much research and practice I had a beautiful, natural water birth with my daughter Tiani, working with my breath, mind and body and without the use of any drugs.
After the birth I felt so empowered that I became determined to pass on my knowledge to others so that they too could be confident in themselves and have an amazing experience such as I had.
This passion was further ignited with the home water birth of my second baby in 2008. It was just a magical experience, so calm and peaceful. Such a beautiful entry into the world for my second little girl Zaia. In Zaia's pregnancy I studied the Calm Birth method and together with my yoga practice and doula study I felt confident that Zaia's birth would be serene and peaceful and it turned out just the way I expected, so special.
My third little mermaid Astariah Shae, was born in November of 2009. This time I had a lot of issues during my pregnancy and so this birth was quite different to my other two little girls birthdays. However, after a very difficult posterior labour of 89 hours, my little girl was finally born into the water, at home.
This most recent birth has taught me many lessons, for which I am immensely grateful. It has shown me the importance of listening to the mother and giving her what she needs. It is so important for the mother to feel emotionally supported and to be in her full power on her birthing day.
As a doula it is important for me to hold the sacred birthing space for the mother and to sheild her from other peoples fear and expectations, so that she can go blissfully off into labourland and focus on birthing her baby.
The mother must be wholly instinctual and totally in her mammalian brain. It is not wise to engage the neocortex whilst the mother is in labour as she is then 'thinking' too much instead of trusting her instincts and going with her body's natural rhythm. We as women are born to birth and our body knows what to do if we can just go with the flow and be at peace with the process and feel private, safe and unobserved.
I believe that through my own experience of pregnancy and labour and all the knowledge that I have gained in the last four years, I can empower other women to have faith in themselves and achieve a beautiful natural birth, which will empower them for the rest of their lives.
I am a committee member and volunteer for the Geelong branch of the Maternity Coalition and am a member of the Geelong Support Home Birth group bringing support to mothers throughout geelong and the surrounding areas.
My second baby turned breech at 38 weeks and I managed to turn her with the use of acupunture and believe that there are a number of natural possibilities to tackle any issue you may have in your pregnancy and birth. Often obstacles occur simply due to an emotional blockage which, when aired, can get your pregnancy and/or labour back on track.
I believe that pregnant women need a great deal of emotional support as well as knowledge and confidence in their own abilities, which I feel I can instill in them as I can totally relate to where they are and how they are feeling.
I would be honoured to be asked to attend any mothers birth and believe I can provide the support that you will need.
I am currently doing further study and am attending Rhea Dempsey's Birthing Wisdom birth attendant course to deepen my knowledge of birth and all its mysteries.

As a birth attendant I offer my support so that the expectant family arrives at decisions that they feel comfortable with. My primary goal is to ‘mother the mother’ and in doing so I also support her partner.
I am passionate about building trusting relationships with my clients over their pregnancies and in the post natal period.
Most of the clients who I work with are aiming for normal physiological birth, and choosing a midwifery model of care, though some are choosing an Obstetric model of care for their own personal and valid reasons. The most important thing for all women is that they feel safe and supported in their decisions. Whatever the choices, I encourage all women to choose a care model that meets their needs, whatever they may be, and be well informed about the various policies and limitations which can minimise their choices in some care settings.
Welcoming a baby is a truly life changing moment. I welcome the opportunity to journey with couples as they move towards this special day.

I am a mother of three, my last baby was born at home 16 years ago when I was 41. I qualified as a doula in early '08 and have attended numerous births since, two of them successful VBACs .
I have also been teaching HypnoBirthing classes for over 8 years and feel very blessed to work with expecting, birthing and new mothers and their families.
I believe in gentle and calm birthing that empowers women and gives them confidence. Childbirth is meant to be a wonderful experience for most women and the memory of it, to be cherished for the rest of her life. Birthing is about trusting her inner instincts and wisdom and do what comes naturally.

Hi! I'm Julie and I live in Sale in Victoria, I support women in Sale and surrounding areas.
Pregnancy, birth and babies are my passion in life.
I am a mum of two boys (so far), 3 and 5 yrs old.
My journey as a doula began in 2004 after the birth of my first child. My birth was a very 'average' experience but I had the support of two wonderful doulas and I benefited so much from their wisdom, expertise and support that I wanted to help other women in the same way.
My goal is to do whatever I can to help you and your partner to have the best possible birth experience you can, whether you have a natural birth or a c-section.
I believe that my job is to serve you and that only you know what the best options are for you.
An important part of my job is to help your partner to learn ways to support you during your labour and birth to a level which they feel comfortable to do so.
As I suffered from postnatal depression after both of my pregnancies, I am particularly aware of the value of good postnatal support for my clients.
Each of my clients is very important and special to me. I love nurturing the mothers and supporting the partners of new and expectant families.
Each and every birth journey is a precious and unique experience for me.

CURRENTLY ENJOYING MY OWN PREGNANCY AND CREATING MY OWN BIRTH EXPERIENCE - LOOKING FORWARD TO BEING OF SERVICE AGAIN MID 2010
"My vision is for every woman to gracefully surrender to the magical process of birth.
My vision is for every woman to step into her true potential, as a mother who ultimately choses in her power and wisdom, to birth in the most conscious and ecstatic way. Birth is courageous, empowering, confronting and healing… it’s primal, it’s magical, it’s letting go.
It can mean so many things and breathes unique to everyone. This I believe deserves the nourishment and support of a community, so women can confidently create their life as a mother. As a Doula, I aim to create a space for people to explore their way in life as parents, lovers and creators… as human beings, in the most organic way and to allow space for all possibilities… "

Pregnancy, birth and parenthood has been a passion of mine for a long time, from the surprise conception of my daughter who was born in 2002 - which them prompted the creation of the BellyBelly website (which is one of Australia's leading family websites) - to the opening of the BellyBelly Pregnancy Centre in Canterbury in early June 2008.
Having great exposure to pregnant women I have been fortunate to attend a great deal of births over these years and have been able to attend a wide range of births, including Jewish birth, waterbirth, caesarean, homebirth, VBAC, breech and more.
I am as passionate about supporting the birthing woman as well as the man who loves her :) It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for the couple to work as a team as their baby enter the world and to be able to do that feeling supported, in control and nurtured is so important. I always remain by my clients side, no matter what path their birth takes and make sure they have a voice and are heard and respected.

I completed my doula training with Optimum Birth in 2007.
I am also a qualified Breastfeeding Counsellor with the Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA). I have been involved with ABA for over 9 years and during that time I’ve attended many educational workshops that specialise in breastfeeding, early parenting, pregnancy and birth.
I am a keen advocate of natural birth and gentle parenting styles.
I have five gorgeous children, and have had five very different births, including an emergency C - Section to start with, then a VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean) then three lovely natural births.
My most recent birth was at home in water & by far the BEST BIRTH EVER!
As each of my births got better, I have further educated myself about the woman’s natural ability to birth her own baby – without any intervention. This is what are bodies are born to do!
I now strongly support Homebirth with a Private Midwife & Doula as I believe this truly is the only way to give a 99% guarantee of an intervention free birth.

After my lengthy first birth ending in a C/S, it was my empowering VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesearan) that led me to follow my instincts and become a Doula. Reasons for my C/S? Well, depends on who you ask - pelvis too small? Baby too big? Who knows, but my second birth was the most wonderful, grounding and empowering experiences of my life. I did have an epidural, and the reasons for that was lack of support and fear going into that birth. It was the overwhelming sensation of joy and love that made me want more, and hence, started my journey to become a Doula.
I have a strong passion for helping woman feel empowered, and to support, encourage and protect thier choices in childbirth. Both my birthing and breastfeeding experiences were unique and varied. I believe they enhance me on my journey to be able to support women, and their partners in their own unique and individual births.
Since qualifying I have been blessed to have supported many wonderful births from home births, first time parents, third time parents, natural, and medically managed births. All of them have touched my heart and it has been a privilege to be part of their journey into this world.

I will work along side you to provide support and guidance during your pregnancy, labour and as you get to know your new baby.
Every parent and baby have individual needs.
It is my role to protect and nurture those needs to ensure the best birthing and bonding experience for your family.
I ONLY TAKE ON 1 BIRTH PER MONTH SO YOU WILL BE MY PRIORITY

For me, birth support starts from the first point of contact with a pregnant woman. It's expressed through honouring a woman's choices; helping her with resources; encouraging her to trust her own birthing wisdom. My name is Nina I am the devoted mum of my fine young son and the founder of mamashanti yoga for birth :: birth support. I'm a doula ~ birth attendant, prenatal yoga teacher, independent childbirth educator, and passionate advocate for reclaiming women’s trust in their innate wisdom to birth and raise their children consciously. My prenatal yoga teaching is deeply informed by my own experience of pregnancy and birth; and most recently by my training and work as a birth attendant. All of my classes and workshops are designed to empower, inform and inspire you to embrace the glorious journey birth takes each of us on!

My name is Olaia and for me there is nothing more fascinating on Earth than the miracle of a new life entering the world. I have been passionate about the beauty of pregnancy and birth since a very young age and have had the joy to have accompanied many women in their journey to motherhood. I am the privileged mother of 3 wonderful children, partner of a loving supportive companion. I completed a doula qualification in 2009 so I could support other women beyond my circle of family and friends.
My role as a doula is:
- to inform, inspire and empower women and their partners in their transition into parenthood on their first or subsequent babies.
- to help couples understand and embrace the natural process of birth, letting go of fears, making informed choices based on growing knowledge and confidence.
- to feel and listen to the mother needs and wishes; heart centred - client centred approach
- to give physical and emotional support in labour, encouraging women to connect with their babies and their body and to believe and trust that all wisdom to give birth is within themselves.
I really enjoy seeing mothers owning their sacred and intimate experience of birthing their babies the way they wish it to be.
I believe the more an expectant mother feels safe, honoured and respected, the greater the chance of having a positive birth experience. Giving birth is not only about birthing a healthy baby but also about the birth of a physically, spiritually and emotionally healthy and strong mother, empowered by the experience.

I am a mum to six beautiful children and an experienced doula.
Childbirth has always held a fascination for me. The incredible role that we women play in childbirth is one that can’t be duplicated in any other experience.
I became a doula because I believe that childbirth is one of the most empowering experiences one can go through and I love helping women achieve a positive birth experience.
My philosophy is that when a woman is prepared and confident about her role in birth she will have a better experience.
My role as your doula is to provide you with information to help you to prepare for birth mentally, physically and spiritually. I am there to support you throughout your pregnancy and all through your labour and birth.
In order to help you to discover your inner birthing skills, I usually have several birth preparation sessions throughout a pregnancy. During these sessions I demonstrate labour coping skills which you can practice and become comfortable with before you find yourself in the birthing process.
In addition to physical preparation, we will also have time to talk about the process of labour and answer any questions you might have about your pregnancy, or address any worries you may have.
The number of preparation sessions depends on you and what you feel you need. These sessions can be held in your own home for your comfort and convenience.
Dads and/or partners find it enlightening and useful to be there for some of the sessions, especially if they will also be there as part of your support team for the birth. Many say that it helps them feel more connected and it helps you all to bond as a family.

Thankyou for your interest in me.
I believe that every woman is able to have positive pregnancy and empowering birth experience. I believe that a womens' body instinctively knows how and when to give birth and that usually birth develops in the way it is meant to when not interfered with. I do believe in medical intervention when absolutely necessary but in being patient and providing an environment for birth that will enhance the natural birthing process. Women and their families should be supported during pregnancy and birth, the birth of your child is an experience that will always be remembered and everything should be done to make that memory a treasured one.
I believe that I can assist you to develop and carry out a birth plan that enable you to have a birth is calm, natural and will be a wonderful experience.
I have 3 young children and have been drawn to work as a doula through the birth and growth of these amazing people.

Hi,
I am a mum of 2 boys aged 5 and a half and 4.
My decision to become a Doula, resulted in my passion of supporting women throughout their pregnancy and post natal period.
I suffered PND after my births and this is where my desire to support other mums originally came from. I helped to set up a PND support group with the Mornington Shire Council and got a lot of satisfaction out of doing so.

I am a Mum to 3 boys, Doula and Student Midwife. I have personally experienced 3 very different births from traumatic right through to ecstatic.
The birth of your baby is one of the most amazing and empowering moments of our lives. Pregnancy and Birth is also a very confusing time, with so many choices. My philosphy is centered around ensuring each and every birthing woman has enough information and support to make informed decisions about HER care. This is my driving motivation to be with birthing women, to make sure that every woman is respected, heard and supported in her choices. I am amazed everytime I have the honour of being present to witness a new life into the world.
Prior to becoming a Doula I was a Assistant Private Bank & Business Banking Manager.
I work All over South East Melbourne, from Brighton, Caulfield, Malvern over to Mitcham, Waverley, Berwick, Narre Warren and down the Mornington Peninsula.

For all women birth is a sacred gift, an opportunity to discover themselves and find their innate power. I believe it is a doula's great privilege to accompany a birthing woman as she scales such great heights.
Women do not need doulas as every woman has what she needs within herself to give birth. Nevertheless she may want a doula to bear witness to her triumph, to follow her lead and share the highest highs and lowest lows of pregnancy, birth and the postpartum experiences.
Other women may not have yet discovered these truths of birth and might like some friendly guidance on their journeys towards these truths.
Whatever the desire, it is an honour for anyone to be invited to share this time with a family, to welcome a new life into the world and to help create the moment just as the woman and her partner have dreamed it.
Each birth experience is unique and as such each birth (and each expecting family) requires different care and support from a doula. As our relationship grows, we can discover together how I can best serve your birth (as well as pregnancy and postpartum period), whether that be focusing on nurturing you, or your partner, or your children. Pregnancy and birth are important experiences for every woman, as such I like to take time to celebrate these by throwing the women I serve a blessingway (or mother shower).
You only get to welcome your baby to the world once, and it would be an honour for any one to share this moment with you, especially the doula you choose who can help create this moment just as you have dreamed it.

I am a midwife but am mostly now working as a doula. When I started participating more fully in the role of the doula, I noticed an amazing difference of the pregnancy, labour and birth journey when a woman felt fully supported. I noticed great birth outcomes and an even greater satisfaction from the woman.
Life is sacred. Birth is sacred. I am here to support you as you travel the journey of pregnancy, birth and motherhood.
Although I am a registered midwife, at the moment I feel as though I am unable to practice to my potential with the strict limitations placed upon me, especially in the hospital system. As your doula, I am able to fully support you, unhindered, in whatever way you want and need.
I honour the mothers journey – in whatever form that takes and offer a range of services so that you, as the mother, feels nourished, supported and empowered during this time and beyond.

I cherish birth and feel deeply privileged to share this journey with you.
Preparing for the birth of your baby is an important step in achieving the welcome to life you want for your baby.
I genuinely support all choices in birth and have personally experienced an emergency caesarean delivery of my daughter, an elective caesarean, a miscarriage and finally a VBA2C with my youngest. I have grown and learned from each one.
I see my role is to inform you about the decisions you will face throughout the coming months, the choices you have and provide you with all the information you require to make your own decisions.

I have been working as a Doula since 1995
and became a registered Doula through the
Australian Doula College in 2008. I am the mother of 5 beautiful children, 4 of whom were born prematurely. I feel very passionately that women need to ‘take back birth’, that it is a natural and beautiful process that women’s bodies are designed to do with dignity and power. I implicitly believe that YOU are able to birth your baby safely and with minimal to no interference, if you are supported, encouraged and empowered to do so.
I also know how unpredictable the birth journey can be. The more informed and confident you are, the more smoothly you will navigate the rite of passage that is labour, birth, breastfeeding and beyond.
I also believe that no matter which birth choice you make, whether it is at home or in hospital, water birth, lotus birth, VBAC, managed labour or elective caesarean, you have the right to be respected and supported, so your birth experience is the beautiful, memorable rite of passage it was meant to be.

Currently residing in Shepparton, Victoria, I am a mother of 4 beautiful daughters ranging in age from 21 months to 16 years. While pregnant with my fourth daughter I knew that helping other women during their pregnancy and birth is something that I would be suited to and would love.
Being only 15 when birthing my first daughter I was very restricted in my birthing choices and found little support or assistance from midwives. I now know that if I had a knowledgeable support person such as a Doula I would have had a greater birthing experience.
I am an accepting and non judgemental person who encourages individualism. I take pride in my caring and understanding nature, I am very reliable, punctual and have an eye for detail. I have a fantastic sixth sense and can interpret body language excellently.
Giving women the opportunity to have the best pregnancy and birth experience possible is my goal. I will help this happen by going through all choices available and helping make that choice by empowering my clients with the knowledge to decide which is the best option available for them.
My interests and hobbies include photography, native flora and fauna, conservation, vegetarianism, music, parenting and of course pregnancy, labour, birth and breastfeeding.
My studies also include a Bachelor of Applied Science with the University of Melbourne.

Hello! My name is Victoria and I've had the tremendous honour of working with women and their partners to bring their precious children into the world for the past 6 years. I work both as a Doula and as an independent Childbirth Educator in Melbourne, running weekly classes and weekend workshops.
I am passionate about the intense euphoria and profound satisfaction that a great birth can bring to a woman as she starts a lifetime of love and growth with her child.
I find myself constantly in awe of the power of women's bodies to take over at birth and just make it happen. It takes a deep trust in the process to allow this to occur and when it does women totally transcend what they thought they were capable of. What an experience to be a part of. What an honour!
I would love to hear from you if you would like to chat about the possibilities of birth and your goals for this exciting event.

I am a married mother of four beautiful children. Shaun 14, Louise 10, Ben 5 and Josh 3. I have been fortunate enough to experience all natural births. As a mother of four i have experienced a lot of the variations that natural labour can bring. I feel passionate about my role as doula and excited about the journey this chosen career path will take me.
With my last labour i had the support and guidance of a doula. The role my doula played in the birth was a real eye opener for me. It made me realize how important a doula's role is during the pregnancy and birthing journey. I felt passionate and inspired to become a doula myself and give the same support to others.
As a doula i believe i can guide expecting parents through their journey to parenthood, by offering emotional, physical, and educational support.
As a mother of four i understand that pregnancy and labour is a very private time in life, and that choosing a support person to be there during this time is a very personal decision for the individuals and couples alike.
I believe in informing all expectant parents about their choices and the changes that occurs, when it comes to there pregnancy and birth. My role as a doula is a very special role where i hold respect and care for each pregnancy/birth. My aim is to nurture, guide and support during this joyful time, now and into the future.
I believe in creating a trusting, calm and peaceful atmosphere where a woman can feel relaxed and her natural instincts can take her into her primal self where she shall labour most effectively.
My role is to support not only the birthing mother but also those who are there to support and share this joyful time.

My name is Yvonne. I got my calling to be a doula in 2007, because I want to see all women have the chance to have the best birth experience for them and their baby. Whether that is a drug free birth, a water birth, a lotus birth, a home birth, hospital or birth centre birth, even a caesarean birth. I feel that if I had a doula with me for my births then things could have been a lot more positive, and ultimately I could have ended up with the births I had hoped for.Just having that extra support person can make all the difference, whether it’s holding a heat pack, suggesting different positions, offering pain relief alternatives, ensuring all your wishes are met and, most importantly, just being there for you and your partner to offer support and encouragement during the most important time in your lifes and to witness the birth of a child.
