Hi my names Katie, i have three children Finlay, Gracie and Ethan and am happily married to David. I am a UK trained Midwide/Doula with vast experience in providing antenatal education and low risk midwifery care. I have supported many women all experiencing a range of births. Having been a caseload midwife i am used to caring for clients through their antenatal, labour and postnatal period, supporting as required, achieving positive childbirth and happy, confident parents. My areas of interest are waterbirth, vaginal birth after ceasarean (VBAC) and IVF. I am currently putting positive steps towards providing waterbirth services at Tasmanias major referral hospital and hope this will be the start of many midwifery led services to come. As a Doula/midwife i have found that many women have a lack of support during sometime in their pregnancy, labour or postnatal period, by seeking and being supported by a doula my aim is the ensure you are guided into the childbirth experience you deserve and want. I use a variety of holistic and homeopathic approaches in all births and birth settings to empower your ability in creating a happy, healthy, mother and baby. I'd love to tell you more about my services and would welcome any enquiries.

Hello, my name is Laura, I am 32 years old and the mother of four children ranging in age from 5 to 12 years(twins included).
My interest in birth work began after the arrival of my last child at home with the aid of a private midwife. This experience made me realize the importance of continous care for women during this unique time .Since then my interest has become a passion to support and educate women, to give them back the knowledge and power of their own bodies.
My belief is that by strengthening families with education and confidance during the time of birth, we can strengthen communities and in turn create a healthier world.
I am commited to continually educating myself by attending workshops, reading and ,of course, am always learning the most from the families, babies and caregivers I am priviledged to meet and work with.
Every birth is a pivotal beginning point in a persons life, for the parents aswell as the baby, my knowledge and understanding of this important time inspires me to walk along side couples as a knowledgable support person, to offer my skills and compassion during the journey through labour, so that the couple can create a loving experience that forms a solid nurturing base on which to form their life time relationship as a family.
Some of my experience's working with birth include; water birth, twin birth, induction of labour, premature birth, epidural labour, solo mothers and mostly natural birth in home and hospital.

I have been fascinated by women and birth since I was a young girl watching older women around me with their big bellies and common wisdom. When
I was 16, an older friend of mine became pregnant and asked me to help her at the birth I was honoured. That feeling of honour still carries with me today. I am awed by women and their birthing power. Despite what experience I have gathered, I feel I am constantly learning from every woman I meet. As a doula I endeavor to help create a protected and safe birth space for the mother and her family. I do this by allowing the mother/partner time during their pregnancy to think deeply about their inner journey as parents, and to consider how their choices in relation to their birth plan reflect their inner needs. I believe that pregnancy and birth is an incredibly important time in a woman’s life, and giving her opportunities to really explore herself, and her inner world, is the first step towards her entering into her birthing power. As a doula, I feel my role is to reflect the needs of the mother and her birth team. Whether that be to offer massage and physical support, or to act as an advocate for the mother in a medical setting. I am prepared to support the mother the way she needs, in an unbiased way. I have worked ante and post natally for many years now, but with my own family growing up, I am able to attend births. I am a certified doula and childbirth educator and did my training with Childbirth International. I have begun offering classes and workshops in the Southern Tasmanian regions. I have 5 children, 3 singletons and twins. Each pregnancy and birth was unique, and from my own experience, I have learnt the importance of simply being present with birth. Allowing the mother to walk her path through motherhood, to discover her own wisdom, and to empower herself…being present with support, encouragement, and guidance.

My practice is built upon my belief in empowered birth, where the birthing woman is in tune and in charge.
I’m a doula, yoga instructor and spiritual midwife, passionate and dedicated to providing women and their partners a service of caring support through the childbearing year.
I offer a variety of services, including Yoga in Pregnancy, Mummy and Me Yoga, Birth and Post Natal Doula services, plus Spiritual Midwifery, where I assist women in fully exploring and embracing the spiritual nature of pregnancy and birth.
I provide a service of compassionate care, accepting and supporting differing religious and spiritual beliefs and allowing parents to find their way through the confusing maze of information and medical terms to make educated decisions and reach their goal.
By combining my skills and knowledge in different areas, I hope to provide a unique service of support, information and inspiration through all stages of pregnancy and birth.
